READING
I will try to briefly explain what I do to improve my reading skills and show you some web pages and books that I did enjoy during my study. Of course, I still didn't manage to read as much as I wished to... It is probably due to the existence of audiobooks (I will talk more about them in the listening section) and my laziness and chronic procrastination. It is true that when I was younger I used to read much more than I do now. Nonetheless, I still often read articles, studies, journals, and news on the internet and occasionally some books.
Also, I did read some of the textbooks about grammar and other English "stuff" but I believe that everybody does that. It is not original and I want to show you a little something extra than what everybody might show.
Books
Second semester
I have read a lot of books in my life. Since I got older I even tried to read some in English... Luckily for me, I had to read some books for my classes this semester, though, I want to share other books I've read that are not connected to the school. That is Harry Potter and Methods of Rationality.
Third semester
The first one deals with the Harry Potter world. It is a nicely written fan fictional book from the psychological/scientific perspective of view. And no I did not finish this book. It is probably one of the longest books I have ever read. It has around 2000 pages but still, it is quite enjoyable a fortiori if you are an HP fan as I am. :)
I chose the second one even though it was basically "just homework" in one of my classes at the university. It is a rather short book written by John Wyndham. And I am proud to say that I did finish this one.
Fourth semester
As for the third and fourth ones (Oliver Twist and a novel called "To build a fire"). I chose those because I had to read them for my other subject (British History and Literature).
Fifth semester
The last two books were obligatory to finish a subject (American History and Literature) and as I had pdf copies I included only those two books here. Apart from these two, I managed to read a book called "Cry Freedom" - it's about racial segregation and discrimination in Southern Africa, and a book called "Why We Sleep" - that one is naturally about sleeping, hehe.
Sixth semester
In the final semester, I managed to read a lot of books concerning my bachelor's thesis, however, I do not want to put these here - maybe just one. I would call it even "the one", as thanks to this one I decided on what my bachelor's thesis theme will be. It is called "My Life With Martin Luther King, Jr." It is a lovely memoir written by his wife Coretta Scott King.
Then there were these two books I've craved to read for a while back then. The first one was "King Rat" by James Clavell and the other one was "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. I do not have a pdf copy of these books, unfortunately, so I added some of the History material I've read during this semester

The Internet
As for the Internet sources. I do want to have a comprehensive overview of the political scene in the world. So I quite regularly visit pages such as BBC News or CNN.
https://www.bbc.com and https://edition.cnn.com/world
Besides that, as I am a hockey fan I check regularly hockey information from NHL (National Hockey League). We Czechs do have a lot of players in the NHL and as I am a big fan of Ice hockey, this webpage is somewhat a necessity. All information is available at https://www.nhl.com.
And as for the studies and publications I sometimes have to read some literature and quote it in some of my seminar papers. Even if the paper is to be done in the Czech subject I quite often wander into an English written thesis and literature so I could gather even more information about the studied matter.
And that's about it, really. :-)
